At Last

Spent about six hours yesterday, with and without the hound, looking for a Chiffchaff.  As Les Dennis all too frequently says...................

Today, another day, another dollar, but with success.

Finally heard the famous call here.

This place was silent yesterday, and is a little oasis, with Grasshopper Warbler, Common Whitethroat, Willow Tit and Blackcap as well as Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler last year, to name but six.

Shhhhhh!

Morning, afternoon and evening; West Hartford and Arcot; SEOs abound.

Nice Surprise

Some people look out of their office window and see a car park.  Some might have a few trees.  Some might even have a Feral Pigeon or two (or even three). 

But as someone whose chores are undertaken in an NE20 postcode, I get this beauty!

Aside from this chappie, two SEO at West Hartford at 6:30am and no Stonechat, one SEO at Arcot at 3:20pm, and two again at WH 3:50pm.

Patch listing - crazy!  Twitching on a micro scale, especially when there's a bit of competition thrown in.

Saturday morning, about to head off to Doncaster and a text from The Guvnor had me Cruella Deville-ing to Arcot.  And what MEGA had me acting like a boy-racer?  Easy.  No. 72 on the year's Cramelist - Goldeneye!

And this morning, hot on the heels of No. 73, an 06:30 twitch of West Hartford for a Stonechat (our survey said.......).  But four SEOs was an excellent start to the day.

And en route from A to B during work, a quick drop-in to Arcot had No. 73 - Pochard and 74 - Tufted Ducks.  And one SEO (at 2:30pm!  Mental!)

And a second try for the Stoney was another blank, but this time two SEOs were great value, as ever.
